- I'm giving out the following version of btxbst.doc, the master file
- for Bibtex bibliography styles. I have added a number of useful
- styles: a "long" style where the full last name of the 1st author is
- used as the label, "alpha3" where the label is the 1st 3 characters of
- the first author's first name. These styles are mandatory for some
- publications. Furthermore, the "key" and "skey" styles are useful if
- you want to print out the database itself; both use the bibtex key as
- the label; the former doesn't sort and the latter does.
-
- The standard styles are unchanged.
-
- I have added a "FRENCH" option, to print dates, etc., in French.
- There are also a couple of minor additions ('tsi' and 'deathesis'),
- useful mostly for the French-speaking part of the world.
-
- It's been in use for some time; it's debugged enough for my puposes
- although there are a few rough edges. Not all of the comments have
- been updated.
-
- Example bibtex entries:
- @InProceedings (sos:sigops86,
- key = "Shapiro 86c",
- author = "Shapiro, Marc",
- title = "{SOS}: a distributed Object-Oriented Operating System",
- booktitle = "2nd {ACM SIGOPS} European Workshop, on ``Making
- Distributed Systems Work{''}",
- address = "Amsterdam (the Netherlands)",
- year = 1986, month = sep,
- note = "(Position paper)"
- )
-
- @InProceedings{cplus:dynalink:inner,
- author = "Philippe Gautron and Marc Shapiro",
- title = "Two extensions to {C++}: a dynamic link editor, and
- inner data",
- booktitle = "Proc. C++ Workshop",
- year = 1987,
- organization = "USENIX",
- address = "Santa Fe NM (USA)",
- month = nov
- }
- A \cite{sos:sigops86}, \cite{cplus:dynalink:inner} will come out like this:
- alpha style: [Sha86], [GS87]
- alpha3 style: [Sha86], [Gau87]
- long style: [Shapiro 86], [Gautron 87]
- key style: [sos:sigops86], [cplus:dynalink:inner]
-
- [PS: I also have a bibtex mode for GNU Emacs, for those interested]
-
- [I have renamed the file shapiro-btxbst-0.98.doc because of the
- stipulation that the file be renamed if any edits are made. - Ken.]
